In this role, she is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners who are interested in providing service opportunities to students.

Shenay was born in Georgetown, Guyana and attended secondary school in Nassau, Bahamas. She has a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s degree in Public Management from the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University and is currently enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh Ed.D program with a focus on reproductive justice framework as it relates to students of color in higher education.

She’s also active in community organizations including The Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Pittsburgh, PUMP and New Voices for Reproductive Justice. Shenay is a 2016 One Young World US Ambassador, an alumna of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation 2015 Health Innovator’s Fellowship and the Fast Track Social Justice Fellow with Get Involved Inc!

We talked to Shenay about the challenges of being an activist in the current political climate, and what issues she views as the most urgent.
