About this Episode

Matt and Steve are bringing you this week's news and updates in Pittsburgh sports. From NCAA hoops coverage to major league content for NFL, NHL, and MLB, if it's happening in (or in some cases affecting) Pittsburgh, this is where you'll find out about it. If you're a fan of soccer or golf, Matt and Steve have some highlights there as well.

This week's show notes:

The Kessel
Riverhounds- the Hounds play the Charleston Battery to a 2-2 draw las Saturday in South
Carolina. The hounds lead the game 2-0 in the first twelve minutes of the game but surrender 2
late goals, a penalty at the 74th min and another even strength goal at the 81st min. The
Hounds have this week off and on the 18th head to Memphis to take on the 901. For an 8pm
EST game on the CW.
International Soccer- Champions League, Liverpool take the win in an upset in which
Barcelona went 3-0 at home then Liverpool went 4-0 at home which there was no cause for
any tiebreaker. Ajax and Tottenham ended in a??
PGA Tour- last week was the Wells Fargo championship, Max Homa was your winner with a
-15 total. Rory lead day one and had a pretty fun 30th bday on the course Saturdayin Charlotte
NC with some crazy weather. This week the PGA has the Bryon Nelson Championship at Trinity
Forest Golf Club outside Dallas Tx, home to the largest green in the US. That is over 35,000
square feet but is used as a double green for holes 1 and 3, this is a links style course that will
remind you of a Scottish, or NE IS layout. ots of big names playing this week, also Tony Romo
will be in the field. Not as many big names as you would like to see, but they are getting ready
for the PGA championship at Bethpage Black on Long Island in two weeks.
NHL- playoff hockey is exciting and amazing especially when a game 7 goes into Double OT
like the Blues/Stars game did last night, the Blues come away with the win and are taking on
Sharks/Avalanche. The east finals are set with Cains/Bruins.
Steelers- the Team has signed all their draft picks to their respective contracts, public
knowledge, google if you must, OTA’s and work outs are finishing up, and rookie camp and
undrafted players will be heading in soon.
Pirates- after an 8 game skid between home and the west coast, the Bucs took two of two in
Arlington against the Rangers, then 2 of 3 over the A’s at home, then the Rangers visited PNC
foe 2 game with the Bucs winning 1 of 2. The Bucs are still banged up squad, (pull article) .
The Bucs are headed out on a 11 game road visiting the cards who always give us trouble, the
Dimondbacks who swept us at home a few weeks ago, to San Diego to take on the Padres and
Manny Machido. I would like to see 6 wins between the two 4 game and the 3 game series.
MLB- Mike Fiers pitches his second career NoNo against Cincinnati makes him the 5th active
pitcher to have multiple NoNo’s.
Dallas Keuchel P stands ground on his fair market value and remains unsigned.
Kentucky Derby- the Run For the Roses had some controversy with the winner being
disqualified due to blocking other horses. The winner was the favorite and after the DQ the
winner was 65-1 shot. Neither horse will run the Preakness.
